Description

After surviving the 1994 Rwandan genocide, a mother and her son find themselves living far from the country they once called home. Years later, the family is still carrying the weight of what happened not only in their memories, but in the silences and misunderstandings that have grown between generations.

The story follows Immaculata, her son Serge, and his daughter Simone as their lives unfold between Rwanda and Europe. Each has a different relationship with the past. For Immaculata, memories of Rwanda remain painfully close. Serge has built a life elsewhere but struggles with the distance between his past and present. Simone, born into a different generation, is trying to understand a history she did not personally experience but which nevertheless shapes her identity.
