Cilka’s Journey by Heather Morris is a historical novel based on the true story of Cilka Klein, a young woman who survives Auschwitz only to face further persecution. At sixteen, Cilka is sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau, where her beauty leads to her being forced into a relationship with a Nazi officer. After the camp’s liberation, she is unjustly charged with collaborating with the enemy and sentenced to fifteen years in a Siberian labor camp.
