is a 25-year-old Jamaican British woman living in London, caught between two cultures and belonging fully to neither. Working at a national newspaper, she constantly compares herself to her white, middle-class peers—never quite measuring up, never quite fitting in.

After a painful breakup with her long-term boyfriend, Queenie spirals into a series of reckless relationships, seeking validation in all the wrong places. The men she turns to occupy her thoughts but erode her self-worth.
