Zoe Zeng is a fashion writer in Manhattan who’s built her career on writing for Chic magazine, doing unpaid internships, and trying to keep up appearances in the cutthroat world of fashion.
When she’s offered a high-paying job at a Silicon Valley app startup called FitPick, she takes the leap—leaving haute couture for HTML.
But the tech world isn’t everything she expected: there’s sexism, elitism, icy coworkers, ethical compromises, and pressure to change her values (and voice) for the sake of brand image. Zoe must navigate all this and fight to stay true to herself—her career, her ethics, and her sense of belonging are all on the line.
